The rain almost held off for a few hours on Sunday to let the launch of the Festival of the Erne go ahead. With the new Lady of the Erne in attendance, we had a procession of floats as well as stilt walkers and fire jugglers. Click below to view some more photos from the day….. (more…)

The 2006 Lady of the Erne

karina.jpgCongratulations to Karina Charles who was crowned as this year’s Lady of the Erne at the official ceremony last night in the Slieve Russell. Karina hails from the Belturbet area and we hope she enjoys her time as the face of the Festival of the Erne. We would also like to thank all the entrants who made this year’s event one of the best to coincide with our 30th anniversary.

Major Course Angling Competitions, rowboat racing, Sports Day, Football leagues, Golf Tournaments, Bowling Competition.

Check out the ‘James Bond Experience’ on Sat 5 August along the river including Helicoptor Rides, chance to win Wakeboarding fully instructed lesson by National Champion and a special treat that even 007 himself doesn’t know about yet! Pig Racing, Self-made rafting contest, Hot Air Balloon (weather permitting) and a whole lot more!

For Chillaxers
Art Exhibition of scenes from around the locality, art and crafts fair, Book Launch from local historian, Heritage walk of the town, music nightly across the town, featuring traditional Irish, rock, pop, jazz, soul and Samba!

For The Show-offs
Annual Fancy dress Fri 4 August. Samba band will kick start the night!!! Also includes Iron-stomach contest, wellie-throwing, milk-drinking competition.
