Below is the timetable for the 2008 Festival of the Erne.
While some events may be subject to change we will try and keep the site updated with any time changes or additions to the program. The following timetable was updated on the 9th July.

Junior Coarse Angling Competition
Trophies for winners, plus tackle prizes for all entrants.
Draw 8:30 am at the Seven Horse Shoes. Fish 10-3pm. Entry free. Prize giving on Thursday August 1st in Seven Horseshoes at 8pm sponsored by Mark Theedom and Gerald Green.

Grand opening of Art Exhibition by Zara Dolan
Official opening of Zara Dolan’s Art Exhibition at ‘The Goodstore’ Belturbet Railway Station on Saturday July 26. Wine and cheese reception. Everyone welcome. This exhibition will run until Sunday July 3. Open daily from 5pm to 7pm.

Scarecrow Competition
It’s time to get cracking on those novelty scarecrows! Once again, the town is expected to be awash with scarecrows of all shapes and sizes as neighbourhoods are expected to go head to head to take on the Scarecrow Challenge!
Who will have the ultimate novelty Scarecrow invention this year?
€100 each for the top three winners!

Belturbet Festival Floats Parade & Big Marching Bands
Led by the 2008 Lady of the Erne, the parade will travel through the town arriving at the Diamond. Look out for the fantastic street entertainment including an exhibition from the Share Centre, and much, much more. . Don’t miss the fantastic floats and marching bands. Prizes: 1st Prize €150 2nd Prize €100 3rd Prize €50. Special prize for Best Children’s Float. Perpetual Trophy for 1st prize winner.

Make your mark on this year’s Festival of the Erne with the first of two Graffitti Art workshops being held at the Railway. This very exciting workshop is targeted at teenagers and will give them a great opportunity to put their own creative spin on the 2008 festival.

Festival Opening
The 2008 Lady of the Erne will officially open the Festival of the Erne on the Diamond followed by The Festival Balloon Race on Main Street. Try your luck! Tickets €2 at the Widows Bar.

Bonny Baby Competition on the Diamond
Followed by Puppet show by nationally renowned puppeteer who starred in The Lassie Film 2005, in the Seven Horse Shoes. Two puppet shows will be held this year: 4.30 and 5.15pm

With a line-up that includes animals such as the Leopard Tortoise to Boa Constrictors, Giant African Land Snails to Madagascar Day Geckos, this promises to be one of the most exciting (and scaliest!) events of the entire festival.
